Iowa Western vs. Southeastern Community College

Keokuk, IA – The Iowa Western Women's basketball team kicked off the second half of the season with a road victory over the Southeastern Blackhawks. Freshman forward Ndidimaka Ndukwe scored 25 points on (11/15) shooting from the field to pace the Reivers in their road game victory. Aleshia Jones added 17 points while shooting over 50% from the field. Michell Butler recorded 9 points and 10 rebounds, just shy of a double-double.

The offensive prowess of the Reivers proved to be too much for the Blackhawks as the Reivers walked away with the 82-50 win. The Reivers applied constant full court pressure the entire game and were able to dominate in the paint logging 38 points in the paint. The Reivers are now 6-5 overall.  

 

 Iowa Western vs. Des Moines Area Community College

Boone, IA - The No. 9 Iowa Western basketball team picked up its second win to kick off the second half of the season, knocking off Des Moines Area Community College 82-64 Wednesday night in Boone, IA. With the win, Iowa Western improves to 7-5 and 4-1 in conference play.

The Reivers started the game aggressive on defense with their full court press, forcing the Bears to turn the ball over 12 times by the half. The Reivers ended the first half up by 13 with a score of 41-28. The aggravated Bears came out with a vengeance in the second half. The Bears outscored the Reivers in the third quarter 24-17, connecting on two key three pointers and free-throws that would bring the game to within one point in the last remaining seconds of the third quarter. A three-point basket by Aleshia Jones at the buzzer to end the third quarter would be the dagger that would take down the Bears. The fourth quarter would belong to the Reivers as they outscored the Bears 24-12 to give the game its final score of 82-64.

The Reivers saw four players in double figures. Freshman guard Aleshia had a team high 18 points on 40% shooting from the field. Courtney Fields, Mary Delgado and Ndidimaka Ndukwe would add 12, 11 and 10 points respectively. The Reivers will host Iowa Central in the Reiver arena on Saturday January 15th at 1:00pm.
