Reivers Fall to Kirkwood

Council Bluffs, IA – The Reivers took on the number one ranked Kirkwood Community College in a matchup that would be close until the final seconds of the game. The Eagles ended up beating the Reivers 77-73 in a very close game that came down to a difference in free throw attempts.

 The game started off evenly matched as both teams would exchange baskets in the first half. Both teams were lighting it up from beyond the arc. The Eagles knocked down four triples while the Reivers answered with seven triples of their own. Going into the half, the Reivers were down 41-33.

The Reivers would return second half focused and aggressive on defense forcing the Eagles to turn the ball over eight times. The Reivers chipped away at the lead bringing the game to within four. Ruba Abo Hashesh would nail a crucial three-pointer that would make it a one-point game. The very next offensive play, Courtney Fields hoisted up a three-point attempt that would connect and give the Reivers their first lead of the game with just under five minutes left in regulation.

The Eagles would answer with back-to-back baskets that would give them the two-point lead. The remainder of the game would come down to free throws as there was not enough time on the clock for the Reivers to recapture the lead.

Aleshia Jones would have a game high of 21 points on 5-6 shooting from the three-point line. Ndidiamaka Ndukwe chipped in 12 points while Mary Delgado and Courtney Fields both added 10 points each. 

The Reivers are now 1-1 in conference play. They will take on the Trojans at 5:30pm on December 8th in the Reiver Arena.
