Iowa Western Women's basketball got into the win column in a big way on Wednesday night.  The Reivers thumped Ellsworth, 93-34, in their first ICCAC action of the season. IWCC shot 41% from the field and 43% from the three-point line while connecting on 21 of 27 free throws. 

Lockdown defense provided a strong start at Head Coach Lindsey Vande Hoef's squad limited ECC just six first-quarter points.  IWCC kept the pressure on, pouring it offensively and restricting the Panthers defensively holding them under double-digits in two of the four quarters overall. 

Leading the way for IWCC was freshman forward E'Laiyah Heard, posting a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.  Hannah Burg added 14 points for IWCC while grabbing seven boards.  Aleshia Jones contributed 13 points on 60% from beyond the arc.

The Reivers face a tough test this weekend as NJCAA number one Kirkwood invades Reiver Arena.  That game is set for Sunday afternoon at 12:00 pm and can be seen on the Reiver Sports Network.
