Sport Shooting Taps National Champion as Top Assistant

Council Bluffs, IA

Reivers Sport Shooting has tabbed a National Champ as the program's new top assistant.

Head Coach Derek Pollock announced the hiring of Anthony Borders to his staff.

"I'm very excited to add Anthony to the coaching staff", said Coach Pollock, "He's had a very successful career to this point and I'm looking forward to him contributing to the development of our team, it's an absolute win for the Reivers to have him on staff".

Borders is originally from Longmont, Colorado, and joins the Reivers after completing his collegiate shooting career at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska.

During his time with the Warriors, Coach Borders was named an ACUI All-American and was a 2017 ACUI National Champion as the Warriors took home the team title.

Anthony was also a medalist in the Colorado State Junior Olympics, bringing home the bronze and a silver medal in his final event and was a 2-time state champion for Longmont High School.

"I'm excited to get this opportunity with the Reivers", said Borders, "Sport Shooting has played a huge role in my life and I'm glad to be able to teach what I've learned and to help Reiver student-athletes progress in life."

In addition to his position with the Reivers, Anthony also serves on the Blair, Nebraska volunteer fire department as an EMT and firefighter.

Coach Borders currently lives in Blair with his longtime girlfriend Cammie and their two dogs, Sunny and Tilly.

The squad begins competitions virtually this weekend with a conference shoot against Ellsworth.
