Reivers Upended by Indian Hills at Home

Council Bluffs, Iowa

Visiting Indian Hills raced to an early double-digit lead on Wednesday over Iowa Western and the Reivers never recovered against the 11th ranked Warriors.

The Warriors Tyem Freeman, one of five visitors in double figures, led both teams with 19 points off the bench, while Dhashon Dyson was the only Reiver to reach the mark with 10.

"We struggled to get into the flow of the game offensively and make shots," said Head Coach Chad Van Riessen, "moving forward we need to focus on being more patient with the ball and attacking defenses instead of settling."

The Reivers shot just 29% from the floor in the game, including a crippling 3-26 mark from beyond the arc.  That number coupled with only seven offensive rebounds prevented the Reivers from playing to their strength, getting to the free-throw line.  As a team, IWCC shoots better than 74%, but managed only seven attempts versus Indian Hills, making six.

Van Riessen added, "A performance like this portrays that everyone needs to do better in preparation and performance, both coaches and players.  I'm looking forward to getting back to work in practice and preparing for our game against Marshalltown on Sunday."

The Reivers dropped to 4-3 with the loss, while Indian Hills won their sixth straight to move to 6-1 on the year.

IWCC welcomes Marshalltown to Reiver Arena for a 3:00 pm game on Saturday before hitting the road for three of their next four scheduled contests.
