Monday Recap and Review (9/20-9/26)
This past week the Iowa Western Men's Soccer team was scheduled to play two games, but unfortunately only played one of those games. They had the North Iowa Area Community College Trojans on the schedule to travel to Mason City to face them, but NIACC had players mssing due to COVID Protocols so the game was cancelled with no later date scheduled at the time.
They did however get to play a tough opponent on Saturday by travelling to Marshalltown, IA and facing off against the Marshalltown Tigers who were coming into the game with the same record as the Reivers at 5-0. In a hard fought game on a sunny and hot day the Reivers were able to open the scoring in the first hakf after a great free kick goal by Jesus De Vicente, who just minutes before this goal he had another free kick barely miss the goal. It was a back and forth game but the game ended in the first hakf with the Reivers leading 1-0. In the second half the Tigers came out determined to get a goal, but Ibrahim Conde had other ideas. He scored a header after a Giorgio Probo free kick, which he sent into the box found Conde's head and that was 2-0. The tigers however did get one back as they scored to make it 2-1, but Junior Casillas made it 4 goals in 4 starts to end the Tigers quest for a comeback and the Reivers won the game 3-1. Yuta Ishizuka earned another win in goal and allowed his first goal against all season.
This week the Reivers only have one game, but it is another big one as they will be travling to Ottumwa, IA to face off agaisnt Indian Hills CC. The Warrios are currently 5-3-2 and will be lookng to end a two game losing streak in which they lost to Hawkeye CC 3-1 and Iowa Lakes 2-0. Game is scheduled to start at 3pm and will be streamed by the schools GoHillsTV platform.
