Iowa Western Athletics and its Volleyball team will honor the legacy of longtime volleyball coach Dennis South with a renaming of its upcoming weekend tournament.

The Reiver Festival will now be known as the 'Dennis South Memorial Classic' for this and in future years.  The Reivers will begin the tournament tomorrow at 1:00 PM against Panola before attending Coach South's Memorial Service later in the afternoon.

The team will also wear their black uniforms in honor of Dennis and ask those attending to also wear the color.

"We were trying to figure out how we could honor the legacy that Dennis left in the volleyball community and the answer was simple", said Iowa Western Head Coach Alicia Williams, "place his name on this annual tournament, so that it would remain synonymous with the sport he devoted so much of his life to."

Dennis passed away suddenly earlier this week at the age of 61.

Visitation services for Coach South begin tonight (Thursday 10/10/19) at 5:00 inside the Hoy | Kilnoski Funeral Home in Council Bluffs at 1221 North 16th Street.  His Memorial Service will take place on Friday (10/11/19) at the same location beginning at 4:00 pm.
