COUNCIL BLUFFS- No. 2-ranked Iowa Western Community College took care of business Friday to put itself in the driver's seat at the District J Tournament in volleyball played at the Kanesville Arena on the Iowa Western campus.
The Reivers topped Vincennes 25-8, 25-17, 25-18 and Region XI rival Indian Hills 26-24, 25-17, 25-13.
Despite the numbers "we were a little slack today," Iowa Western coach Alicia Williams said. "We missed a lot of serves in the second match. It is great we don't face the prospect of needing to play three matches on Saturday, but we need to play better."
Three teams remain in district play. Vincennes and Indian Hills squad off at 11 a.m. Saturday. The winner faces Iowa Western at 1 p.m. A Reiver win gives Iowa Western the district title. A loss forces a winner-take-all match at 3 p.m.
