Reivers win on the road

HILLSBORO, MO- The second ranked Iowa Western volleyball started the Jefferson Halloween Classic with a three-set sweep against Vincennes (Indiana) (25-14, 25-7 and 25-16).

Setter, Hina Pua'a, set up the offense for success scoring 29 assists. Caitlyn Cooper and Ali Verzani  teamed up to combine 18 of the 38 team total kills; Morgan Bossler (.400) and Makayla Doyle (.417) shut down Vincennes' offense by putting up four and three blocks respectively. Ariana Macies led the team in defense with seven digs, while Emi Pua'a, Savannah Downing and Cooper added six digs each.

In the night cap, the Reivers squared off with Jefferson College for the second time this season. In a four-set match, the Reivers defeated the home team (25-21, 25-15, 24-26 and 25-15). Setter Hina Pua'a again operated the offense with precision dishing out 51 assists. Irina Alekseeva led the way on offense hammering down 21 kills with a hitting efficiency of .486. Following suit were Verzani with 11 kills and Cooper with 10.

Middle blocker, Bossler, had a perfect game with 10 kills and no errors out of 13 attempts and added four blocks. Makayla Doyle, put down eight kills with only one error in addition to four blocks as well. The backcourt was controlled by Cooper and E. Pua'a who combined for 25 total digs.
