Reivers rally to beat Central CC in 5 sets

Columbus, NE- The Reivers made it two wins over Central Community College on the season Tuesday, but this time in a 5-set thriller. The Raiders came out strong and determined to defend their home turf, but the Reivers kept fighting and took the match despite dropping the second and third set ( 25-21, 22-25, 22-25, 27-25 and 15-8).

 

Freshman setter, Hina Pua'a controlled the offense, scoring 54 assists in addition to four service aces. Freshman Irina Alekseeva led the team with 23 kills, while also tallying four digs. Ali Verzani was second on the day with sixteen kills, two blocks and twelve digs.

 

Middle blockers Makayla Doyle and Morgan Bossler had big days combining to finish with twenty-two total kills. Doyle and Bossler also made themselves noticeable defensively with Doyle adding three blocks and Bossler batting down two.

 

Defensively, the dynamic duo, Emi Pua'a and Ariana Macies led the team with a whopping forty two digs together. Pua'a led the stat sheet with twenty-six digs.

 

The Reivers have this weekend off before traveling next Wednesday, October 4th to play conference foe Marshalltown CC.
