Reivers pick up two wins at home triangular

Council Bluffs, IA- Iowa Western Volleyball remained perfect after a nonconference triangular last Friday, September 18, 2017.

It took three straight sets for the Reivers to beat Cloud County Community College (25-15, 25-10, and 25-17). Freshman, Ali Verzani, led the team with nine kills and a hitting efficiency of .467 while setting up two blocks. In addition, outsides, Caitlyn Cooper and Irina Alekseeva contributed some offense by scoring seven kills each.

In teh night cap, The Raiders of Central Community College forced the Reivers to play a four-set match (25-24, 24-26, 25-19 and 25-17). In this match, setter Hina Pua'a had a career high with 54 total assists; while, hitters, Alekseeva and Cooper took charge of the game with 21 kills each, both season highs.

In addition to her performance on the net, Cooper led the team in digs, registering 21. Libero, Emi Pua'a, was second in digs with 18.

The Reivers will hit the road Tuesday, September 19th to play at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE at 7:00 P.M.
