Reivers Crush NIACC, Five Score in Double Figures

Mason City, Iowa

A red hot start never cooled for Iowa Western Women's Basketball on Saturday at North Iowa Area.

The Reivers (5-1) took a 21-2 lead after one quarter and led at halftime 45-4 over the home-standing Trojans (0-5) en route to a 90-32 victory.

"An awesome overall team win for us," said Head Coach Lindsey Vande Hoef, "everyone that played scored and we shared the ball well with 19 assists for the game.  An amazing effort defensively, holding them to only 32 and outrebounding them by nearly 30, just a great effort overall."

Gabriella Smith led the Reivers on 7-9 shooting with 15 points, while Hayley Berfield added 13, Ariyah Brooks scored 11 and both Arielle McElroy and Isnelle Natabou added 10.

Natabou and Ali Edwards each led the Reivers with nine rebounds in a game where IWCC more than doubled NIACC.

Newcomer Ruba Abo Hashesh was good on 7-9 from the charity stripe and just missed double figures, but assisted a team-high eight times off the bench.

The Reivers travel to Moberly, Missouri to face Moberly Area on Monday at 5:30 pm.  That game can be watched online here - https://www.youtube.com/c/MACCGreyhoundAthletics/videos?app=desktop

The Reivers next home will come against Southeastern on Sunday at 4:00 pm after Saturday's scheduled game with Marshalltown was cancelled due to Covid concerns within the Tigers program.
