Record Breaking Shooting Fuels Reivers Win Over WIldcats

Wahpeton, ND – The Iowa Western Women's Basketball team sailed to a 71-57 victory over North Dakota State College of Science Saturday afternoon on the road. The Reivers, 8th in the Nation in three-pointers made per contest, connected on 16 trifectas against the Wildcats, setting a new program record. This year's team tied the previous record of 15 made three-pointers, just two weeks ago on February 3, against Southeast Community College.  The squad is also on track to break the most three-pointers made in a season.

Of the 16 threes made, the Reivers were paced by Sommer Blakemore, who was near perfect from beyond the arc, shooting 5-6.  Hayley Berfield connected on 5-9 attempts, while Jaiden Morris shot 3 for 7, Solape Amusan went made half of her 4 attempts, and Arielle McElroy went 1-2.  Collectively, the group shot 51.6% from three-point land.  The Reivers also dished out 19 assists with Blakemore and Berfield tied for the team lead with four apiece.  

The Reivers will look to close out the regular season in the win column at McCook Community College on Saturday, February 22. The Reivers will then enter post-season play with a bye during the semi-final round of the Region XI Championship. The Reivers will host the winner of the semi-final game on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. in Reiver Arena.
