Reivers roll through road trip, Sophomore Night on tap

The Reiver women took on two Region 16 teams this week on the road and ended the trip 2-0, expanding their winning streak to 13 games. Since beginning the New Year the Reivers have remained undefeated even amidst traveling for 9 of those 13 contests, landing the Reivers at 21-7 for the year.

The Reivers took on State Fair on Monday, February 11th, which was a makeup game that was previously postponed due to weather. After a slow start in the first quarter offensively the Reivers kicked it into second gear and outscored the Roadrunner 19-9 in the second quarter and 22-5 in the third.  The Reivers went on to win in a convincing matter, 72-51.

The Reivers saw balanced scoring from the paint and the perimeter as two guards and two post were in double figures. Kiara Dallmann led the way with 15 points, shooting 6-11 from the field and grabbing 7 boards. Aubri Noti also scored 10 points and was just shy of a double-double, grabbing 9 rebounds. Zhan'e Williams did her part adding 12 points and De'Ayra Davis grabbed 7 boards and chipped in 10 points.

Defensively the Reivers held the Roadrunner to only shooting 28% from the field and 20% from the 3 point line.

 

The Reivers hit the road following the game at State Fair to take on Moberly Tuesday, February 12th. The Reivers started the game on fire and outscored Moberly 21-8 to start the game. The greyhounds would not recover from the first quarter and the Reiver led by double digits for the remainder of the game.

Offensively the Reivers could not miss, as they shot 50% from the field. The team shared the ball extremely well and also dished out a total of 23 assists. Starting point guard, Zhan'e Williams ended the contest with a season high of 11 assists.

Forward Aubri Noti led the Reivers with 18 points, shooting 7-10 from the field and 4-6 from the line. Noti also grabbed 6 boards.

The Reivers also saw a nice spark from freshman point guard Binta Salawu, who ended the game with 3 assists, 3 steals, and 12 points.

Head Coach Lindsey Vande Hoef is very proud of the team's efforts, "It is so awesome, how we are peaking at the right time… The ladies have just won three games in four days and all on the road. Everyone is stepping up and we are sharing the basketball."

The Reivers are back in action on Saturday night, February 16th for their final regular season home game of the season.  The team tips off at 5 against conference foe Marshalltown. 7 sophomores will be honored before the game with a FREE Indoor Tailgate with food and drink inside Reiver Arena.  The Reivers have also designated this game as their 'Pink Out' to raise awareness for Breast Cancer research.
