Reivers defend home court in convincing win

Council Bluffs, IA - The Reiver women are back on the winning track after beating Mineral Area College 75-56 at home on Wednesday, November 23rd.

After  a neck and neck first quarter Iowa Western picked up speed and led going into halftime with a 35-26 lead. The Reivers came out strong in the third quarter and scored 23 points, shooting 62% from the field. Mineral Area was unable to come out of the deficit from the third quarter and the Reivers ending the game outscoring the Cardinals 30-18 in the paint. The post presence was pivotal in the win for the Reivers and balanced play throughout the game led to difficult matchups for the Cardinals. Of the 11 Reivers who saw court time, 10 scored, leading the Reivers to 25 total bench points to the Cardinal's 13. Leading the scoring category was Sophomore Forward Kiara Dallmann, who went 6-8 from the field, finishing with 13 points. Freshman guard Sommer Blakemore also chipped in 10 points, 8 assists, and 5 boards. Freshman RS Aubri Noti also scored 10 and grabbed 7 boards. Freshman Haley Moore also finished with 8 rebounds and 7 points. 

Iowa Western is back in action this weekend at Cloud County CC on Saturday November 24th and at Butler CC on Sunday November 25th. The Reivers are currently 4-3 on the season.
