Iowa Western Take Home Coach and Player of the Year Region XI Honors

The 2017-18 Division I Women's All-Region honorees were announced today. Iowa Western led the way with three First Team members, while Northeast placed two players on the First Team All-Region list.

Freshman guard Naomie Alnatas led the Reivers with 13.2 points per game, in addition to shooting 41.1% from beyond the arc and 92.6% from the free throw line. She also averaged 1.9 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

Fellow freshman Kiara Dallmann posted 10.4 points per game, which ranked third for the Reivers and was third on the team in rebounds per game with 6.2. Her 70.9-percent from the field is tops in the NJCAA Division I. 

The final First Team performer for Iowa Western was forward Jazza Johns. Johns, the 2017-18 Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Year, averaged 11.6 points per game and pulled down 7.5 rebounds per game. In addition to her impressive offensive game, she is second on the team in steals per game with 1.2.

Northeast placed two players on the First Team this season. Sophomore guard Sierra Bell and sophomore forward Mykala Baylor both earned All-Region honors for the Hawks.

Bell was known for her balanced approach on the court. She scored 10.9 points per game, grabbed 4.1 rebounds, dished out 3.3 assists, and got two steals per game.

Forward Mykala Baylor led the Hawks in scoring with 11.7 points per game and led the team in rebounding with 8.2 rebounds per game. Her defense was key for the Hawks, as well, as she averaged 1.3 steals and 2.5 blocks per game.

Marshalltown rounded out the All-Region First Team selecting sophomore forward Loralei Siliga.

Siliga was the team leader in multiple categories, including points with 17.6, rebounds with 7.1, and steals with one per game. Siliga also finished third on the team in assists with 1.3 per contest.

The selections were based on finish during the regular season. First place receives three First Team selections, second place two, and one for third place.
