COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - The Reivers 18-game win streak came to end on Saturday in the Region XI Championship game in a 72-55 loss to rival Northeast Community College inside Reiver Arena.

Northeast Community College (25-4) hands Iowa Western (25-5) its first loss in 18 games, ending the streak that began Dec. 8.

As the ICCAC Division One regular season champion, the Reivers have their sights set on a postseason berth at the NJCAA National Championship hosted in Lubbock, Texas. The Reivers won't find out their fate until the NJCAA Selection Show on Monday.

A frantic pace set the tone early as the Reivers raced out to a lead behind transition baskets made by ICCAC Player of the Year Jazza Johns and sophomore guard, Zheniah Jackson. A Kiara Dallmann putback, late in the second quarter kept the Reivers within striking distance down just six at halftime.

The final two quarters proved to be all Northeast as it raced to a 15 point lead by Judit Valls and Sierra Bell who each finished with 14 points. The Hawks shot 53.8% for the game (28-of-52) from the field compared to the Reivers 33.9% (21-of-62). Sophomore forward, Miya Bull pull down nine rebounds, including seven offensive to control the glass.

The Reivers wait to hear if they earned an at-large bid to the NJCAA Women's National Championship on Monday at 10am. The selection show will be live-streamed with highlights, on-air analysis and a bracket reveal.
