COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - Iowa Western freshman guard, Naomie Alnatas scored 19 points to pace the Reivers in a 84-59 victory over North Dakota State College of Science at the Reiver Arena on "Sophomore Day" on Saturday afternoon.

Iowa Western (25-4, 4-0) pushed its winning streak to 18 in a row in a dominating performance over 15th-ranked NDSCS (26-3). Alnatas lead five Reivers in double figures on 8-of-16 shooting from the field. She also grabbed six rebounds and had two steals and two assists in the game. Sophomore guard Zheniah Jackson added 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists and Azaria Floyd poured in 11 points and six assists.

IWCC forwards Jazza Johns set the tone in the paint finishing with 13 points for the game. Freshman Kiara Dallman tallied a double-double scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Reivers jumped out to early 23-14 lead behind Jazza Johns eight first quarter points. The second quarter proved no different as the defensive pressure continued from IWCC as they held NDSCS to just eight points going into the break up 41-22.

Azaria Floyd put her stamp on the third quarter in the open floor scoring seven points on 3-of-4 from the field and the fourth quarter proved to be same as the Reivers raced to the 84-59 finish.

IWCC shot 54.7% (35-of-64) from the field with five made threes. NDSCS made 37.7% (23-of-65) shots from the field.

NDSCS had three in double-figures, Breahna Butler with 12 points while Lauren Johnson and Mina Porte both chipped in 11 points. The Reivers dominated the glass 39-22.

 

NEXT UP

The Reivers begin post-season play when they host the Region XI title game on the Saturday, Mar. 3rd at 6pm in Reiver Arena. They will host the winner of Northeast and Marshalltown match-up that is slated for Wednesday in Norfolk.
