Reivers top Marshalltown 68-50 on the road

MARSHALLTOWN, IA - The Reivers continued its ICCAC dominance as it defeated Marshalltown 68-50 on the road behind strong defensive effort on Wednesday night.

Iowa Western (20-4, 3-0 ICCAC) extends its winning streak to 13 games overall and a season-sweep of Marshalltown (8-15, 0-3 ICCAC). Forwards Jazza Johns and Kiara Dallmann lead the way in the scoring column scoring 13 and 11 points respectively. Freshman guard Zhan'e Williams contributed key minutes on both ends of the floor intensifying the pressure defensively in the backcourt while tallying eight points on 4-of-6 shots from the field.

IWCC was off to a 20-8 lead after a steal by Azaria Floyd lead to a Delia Ania-Gaja buzzer beater at the end of the first quarter. The Reivers lead at half by 17 points and never looked back after setting the pace in the third quarter from Miya Bull's defensive rebound and transition layup extending their lead to 58-34.

Marshalltown was lead in scoring by Loralei Siliga and Alyssa Roth who each scoured 18 points. Siliga came in as the ICCAC leading scorer at nearly 18 points per game but had to earn each point finishing just 5-of-18 from the field.

Iowa Western shot 51.9% (30-of-58) in the game and dominated the paint outscoring the Tigers inside 50-26.

NEXT UP

Northeast will visit Reiver Arena this Saturday, Feb. 3rd for a 5pm showdown. The Reivers won the first match-up on Jan. 17th, 65-47.

The game will be a celebration of "Rocky the Reiver's" birthday with kids receiving free admission, eye patches, mascot autographs and free cake and ice cream!
