NORFOLK, NE - Three Reivers scored in double figures pushing Iowa Western (16-4, 2-0) to a road win 65-47 over ICCAC conference foe Northeast (15-2, 0-1). The Reivers doubled-up the home team outscoring them 38-19 in the second half.
The Reivers stays atop the ICCAC Conference standings at 2-0 as they won their ninth game in a row. Naomie Alnatas lead the Reivers in scoring as she poured in 15 points, all from beyond the three-point line making 5-of-8 shots from deep. Sophomore guards Zheniah Jackson scored 13 points on 4-of-10 shots while Delia Ania-Gaja provided big play after big play on both ends scoring 12 points and finishing with six steals.
The Hawks lead at halftime 28-27 after a slow-paced first two quarters. Out of the halftime break, the Reivers found their stride in the open floor on a transition layup by Kiara Dallmann after a steal and dish by Ania-Gaja. Azaria Floyd contributed great minutes off the bench in the third quarter extending the lead after a baseline drive and finish. Floyd finished with nine points on 4-of-8 from the field.
Northeast was lead in scoring by Sierra Bell who finished the game with 13 points on 3-of-12 shooting and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line. One of the top defensive rebounding teams in the country, Northeast was out-rebounded by the Reivers 56-39 behind Miya Bulls 15 rebounds and Jazza Johns 12 rebounds.
The Reivers finished the game shooting 39.1% (25-of-64) and 42% from deep (11-of-26) while holding Northeast to just 21.7% on 13 made field goals from the field (13-of-60) and a 16.7% (2-of-12) from beyond the arc.
