Reivers Turn Crowder Away 89-70

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - The Reivers opened up 2018 with a home win vs. Region 16 opponent Crowder College 89-70 this past Saturday. This is the fifth win in a row for the Reivers (12-4) and the second straight win over a Region 16 opponent after defeating Jefferson College before Christmas break.

Naomie Alnatas had the shooting touch in the first quarter knocking down four three's. The freshman guard another in the second quarter going into halftime scoring 17 points on 5-of-8 from three. She was joined by Delia Ania-Gaja playing a strong half with seven assists pushing the IWCC lead to 12 at the break.

The third quarter expanded the lead for the Reivers lead by Zheniah Jackson and Jazza Johns. Jackson scored on back-to-back baskets draining a three followed by a strong baseline drive finishing a three-point play. The Milwaukee native finished with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists. Johns flexed her muscles inside finishing the game with her second straight double-double with scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Alnatas finished the game with 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting while draining six from beyond the arc. Ania-Gaja continued her passing display as she dished out a game-high 11 assists notching another double-double for the point guard.

Crowder was lead in scoring by Elle Williams who scored 17. The Roughriders shot 24-of-49 (49%) from the field and 6-of-13 (46.2%) from three compared to the Reivers shooting from the field 33-of-63 (52.4%) and 10-of-25 (40%) from deep. Crowder earned its way to the charity stripe 26 times, making 16 for 61.5% while IWCC shot just 13-of-19.
