Women's Basketball Extends Streak to Four

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - For the fourth straight game the Iowa Western women's basketball team (7-3) won by double-digits as they defeated ICCAC member Ellsworth Community College by a score of 80-47 on Tuesday night in Reiver Arena.

The Reivers were powered by the point guard duo of Zhan'e Williams and Delia Ania-Gaja. Williams connected on four three-pointers in the game on her way to score a game high 16 points. The sophomore point guard from Barcelona Spain, Ania-Gaja continued her stellar play with 15 points on 6 of 7 shooting while sinking three shots from behind the arc and dishing out 6 assists.

It was a sluggish first quarter for the Reivers as they struggled to find rythym on the offensive end. Two steals sparked the offensive attack by Zheniah Jackson provding layups for herself and Kiara Dallmann. IWCC finished a strong shooting half a combined 18 of 24 (75%) while holding Ellsworth to 7 of 20 shots (35%).

In the second half, Miya Bull and Julia Raflund were major factors as the Reivers continued to extend the lead. Raflund finished the game with 11 points and a season high eight rebounds. The Sweden native also connected on five of 6 shots from the foul line.

The outcome served as the fourth straight win for IWCC capping off the fourth game in five days. The Reivers travel next to face a tough opponent Kirkwood on Saturday, December 1st, for a 1 p.m. tip off. This is the second meeting for the Reivers and Kirkwood having met at the State Fair Tip-Off Classic the first game of the season with the Reivers coming out on top 55-52.
