Mercy Biwott Leads the Reivers at the Gans Creek Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Iowa Western Cross Country competed in the Gans Creek Classic this past Friday morning. Sophomore Mercy Biwott led the women's team, finishing 2nd overall with a time of 21:39 in the 6k race.  Freshmen Reese Johnson, Callie Arnold, Julia McClain, and sophomore Josey French all scored for the Reivers in their first-ever 6k cross-country race.

On the men's side, Freshman Jacinto Gaspar finished the 8k race as the overall runner-up with a time of 24:40.  Freshman Amiri Whittle scored in his Reiver debut.  Sophomores Kylan Willis and Aaron Rheiner also scored points with Rheiner smashing his PR by 68 seconds.  Rounding out the scoring was freshman Daine Wardyn who improved his PR by 1:45. 

Both teams will run their last regular season meet in two weeks at the Platte River Rumble in Ashland, NE, hosted by Creighton University.
