Women & Men's Teams Finish Second At Region XI Championship

WATERLOO, IA

The Reivers travelled to Waterloo, IA this weekend to compete in the Region XI Championships hosted by Hawkeye Community College. The men's team was led by Nicholas Kiprotich as he was third in the men's race running a school record time of 23:58. After Kiprotich crossed the line Jaysen Bouwers would be the next Reiver to cross the line finishing fourth with a time of 24:57. The men would finish 2nd as a team putting all five runners inside of the top 15. The men had 8 athletes finish the day with a season or lifetime personal best.

On the women's side Mercy Biwott continued her successful Freshman campaign winning the Region XI Championship with a time of 17:19. Mohussin Abakar would be the next Reiver to cross the finish line with a season best time of 18:42 to finish 3rd followed by Bethany Stacey's 18:54 to finish 5th. The women's team would go on to finish 2nd overall by just 4 points placing all five runners inside of the top twenty. The women had 8 athletes finish the day with a season or lifetime personal best.

Mercy Biwott was named Region XI Runner of the Year after her dominate Region XI performance winning by over 40 seconds. Along with Mercy, Coach Bierbaum was named Region XI Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year. The Reivers will travel to Richmond, VA for the 2021 NJCAA Cross Country Championships November 13.
