Cross Country runs well Woody Greeno/Dirksen Invitational

Lincoln, NE - On Saturday, the Reiver men's & women's cross country teams raced at the Woody Greeno/Dirksen Invitational with a lot of success.

Despite the races starting late due to lightening and stormy weather, the Reivers waited patiently on the bus for the storm to pass before beginning warm-ups.

Iowa Western was chomping at the bit for 90 minutes for the ladies race begin at 10:00 AM.

The top runner for the ladies was freshman Asshanni Robb Jamaica who finished 32nd with a time of 24:44.1 in the 6k. race. Sophomore, and team captain, Olivia Russo ran a gutsy race turning in a time of 24:46.1 trying to run her fellow teammate down at the finish. The rest of the ladies raced well and ended up 7th out of 13 teams in the college division good enough to secure the top Junior College spot.

The men were led by the Kenyan duo Brian Kitur and Dennis Kibowen. Kiture ran 27:14.1 which was good enough for 10th.in the 8k race while his teammate Kibowen took 16th in 27:46.4.

The men finish 6th in a field of 12 in the college division and placed 2nd among Junior Colleges teams.

The Reivers will have a long training period over the next two weeks and head to the Cowboy Jamboree at Oklahoma State on September 30, 2017.
