SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Augustana Twilight took place at the Yankton Trails on friday night and proved to be a good opening for the Reivers as they finished 16th behind several division I teams on the women's side and 17th on the men's side.
The top female runner for Iowa Western was freshman Neri Getraide who ran a season best 19:31.41 to place 78th out of 310 competitors. Sophomore Olivia Russo, (20:18.39), freshman Asshanni Robb ( 20:20.42), freshman Caitlyn Juhl (21:14.35), and sophomore Purity Chebet (21:15.17) rounded out the top five times for the Reivers.
On the men's side, freshman Brian Kitur paced the Reivers turning in a time of 20:42.43 in the 4 mile race, good for 53rd out of 280 participants. Sophomore Dennis Kibowen finished 73rd with a time of 21:02.3. Rounding out the rest of the Reivers was sophomore Herric Walters (21:54.15), freshman Ethan Scott (22:02.32), and freshman Christopher Casart (22:44.17).
The course was flat and fast and the weather was cool. It was a unique atmosphere with the race being held at night.
The Reivers will be off this weekend to participate in the 2017 Homecoming festivities. Iowa Western will then hit the road traveling to Lincoln, Nebraska for the Wood Greeno Invitational on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10:00 A.M.
