Nagatani Wins the National Title

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - For the second year in a row, Iowa Western hosted the NJCAA Women's Wrestling National Invitational at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs.  The Reivers once again came away with an individual national champion.  After falling in the finals last year to Indian Hills' Shammilka Miranda Diaz, sophomore Flavia Nagatani avenged her loss, defeating Miranda Diaz by technical superiority 12-1.

Nagatani led 6-0 after the first period and then poured it on in the 2nd, scoring six more points, winning on a takedown with 13 seconds left in the 2nd period.  Nagatani becomes Iowa Western's 3rd national champ, joining last year's NJCAA champion Ferny Hernandez and Yarissa Gallo, the 2022 JCNC national champion.
