Amissah and Grant are Double Event Winners at CMU

Warrensburg, MO - Freshman Ethel Amissah opened up her 400m campaign in style at The University of Central Missouri. She circled the oval in an NJCAA qualifying time of 56.13 to move to #4 on the descending order list. She came back to win the 200m in 25.71 for 1st place. 

Sophomore Monique Grant continued her winning ways this time in the triple jump. Grant leaped her way to 11.21m for the win. She came back later in the day to win the 60m hurdles in 8.67 and also finished 3rd in the high jump in 1.54m. 

Other notable event wins came in the Men's Long Jump. Freshman Prosper Kapongo 7.02m, Freshman Denzs Simmonds in the Men's Shot Put 16.41m, and Sophomore Bethany Stacey in the women's 800m 2:26.94. 

Freshman Mohammad Kowa also put up an NJCAA qualifier in the 600y which converted to a 1:20:18 600m. 

"We had athletes from every event discipline contribute today. Ethel Amissah and Monique Grant had a good day and I am pleased to see Prosper Kapongo putting it together. There were several people that are figuring out technical kinks." Said Head Coach David Burnett. 

The Reivers will be back next week for a busy week of action when they travel to Northwest Missouri State University February 2-3 and Washburn University February 4.
