REIVERS ICE REDTAILS 3-0

OMAHA, NE: The Reivers shutdown a potent Hawkeye CC attack enroute to a shutout performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  The Reivers dictated play early on establishing possession and creating a few half chances in the first half of the opening period. The breakthrough came just before the break from a throw-in on the left side. Sophomore Jessica Slater found Paula Boza on the corner of the penalty box. Boza turned cleverly and dribbled centrally across the box evading 3 Redtail defenders before rifling a shot to the bottom left corner leaving the Hawkeye goalkeeper no chance.

After intermission, the Reivers took it up another level tripling their shot advantage from the first half. The pay-off came early as Yoshiki Kitadai scored from a Marie Quentel assist off another set piece. The French international kept the ball alive off a corner finding Kitadai who blasted a shot off the crossbar and into the goal. Ririka Kamimura capped off the scoring in the 59' finishing off a rebound created by Quentel on the right side.

NOTES & NUMBERS: The Reivers improved to 5-0-0 on the season. Boza notched her 3rd goal of the season and Quentel doubled her season assists on the year bring her to 4 assists. QUOTES: Head Coach Adam Sanchez: "This game wasn't easy. It was a bit of a tricky fixture and we knew that Hawkeye has come up with upsets in the recent past and we didn't want to become one of them. I thought the players were excellent in their approach to the match and focused on the aspects that were important in the match. We scored 3 really good goals and I thought the overall performance was a good one and a positive step in the right direction".
