Reivers pick up clean sheet victory, shutout Iowa Lakes 7-0

SPENCER, IA: The Reiver women's soccer team shutout conference opponent Iowa Lakes Community College 7-0 to improve conference record to 6-0-0. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: For the second game in a row, the Reivers got on the board early in the 1st minute as freshman Moriah Lucas finished the ball near the top of the box from a long ball by Estefania Cardona. Sophomore Paige Moser was able to get the second goal of the match just 4 minutes in, with a great touch past the Lakers goalkeeper, finishing the ball far post. The Reivers continued to dominate play through the first half and created multiple scoring opportunities, but Iowa Lakes kept them at bay, holding the score to 2-0 going into half time.

Determined to put a few more goals in the back of the net, the Reivers came out with a strong intensity and put 3 more away on Lakes in the first 7 minutes of the second half. Sophomore Alex Boss was finally able to find the back of the net and finished 2 more goals for the Reivers, both in the 73rd minute of the game. The Reivers closed out another conference opponent, this time 7-0.

NOTES & NUMBERS: Iowa Western continues their 2018 season ICCAC undefeated streak to 6-0-0. The Reivers have increased their scoring versus their conference opponents 55-1 during their first 6 conference games this season. Laura Chavez added 4 assists in the game, increasing her season total to 15. Whitney Dockweiler notched another clean sheet under her belt, making it her 7th of the season. Moriah Lucas picked up her 3rd and 4th goal of the season, while Alex Boss added her 5th and 6th.
