#9 Reivers Defeat Indian Hills CC 3-0, Increasing Conference Play to 4-0-0

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA: The Reivers win 3-0 in a huge conference matchup against Indian Hills Community College, furthering their 4-0 record in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Coming off a 10-0 win over North Iowa Area Community College on Saturday, the Reivers were in high spirits and ready for their face off against Indian Hills Community College. From the whistle, the Reivers came out sharp and laser focused. They moved the ball side to side and used their defense, midfield, and forwards to control possession throughout the entire first half. With speed from the outside midfielder, Moriah Lucas, the Reivers dominated the left side of the field and was able to slot a ball across the middle to find Laura Chavez, who was able to find the back of the net with just 8 minutes into the game. The Reivers continued to dictate play in the first half and freshman Kauany Sousa was able to put one away in the 36th minute, assisted by Laura Chavez. Iowa Western led 2-0 going into the half.

Coming into the second half, both the Reivers and the Warriors made some small adjustments in game play, but the Reivers kept on top. In the 59th minute of the game Laura Chavez got her second goal of the game off the assist from Kauany Sousa, solidifying the win for Iowa Western. The match ended with a 3-0 win against Indian Hills Community College. The Reivers continue their undefeated conference play to 4-0-0.

NOTES & NUMBERS: Sophomore Laura Chavez earned two goals and one assist, totaling 10 goals and 9 assists, and freshman Kauany Sousa produced her 9th goal and 3rd assist during this season. Sophomore goalkeeper Whitney Dockweiler got her 5th shutout of the season.
