Reivers triumph over NIACC in 10-0 road win

MASON CITY, IA: The Reivers win 10-0 on the road against North Iowa Area Community College continuing their 3-0 record in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Reivers' came out hungry to score as they faced North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) in their first conference matchup on the road. The forwards and midfielders effectively worked the ball through NIACC's midfield and took the ball with intensity into their offensive final third. With 14 shots on goal, the Reivers were able to find the back of the net 4 times—2 from sophomore Anyeli Solarte, and 1 each from freshman Kauany Sousa (her 8th of the season) and sophomore Abby Hall. The Reivers went into half up 4-0 against the Trojans.

The Reivers turned up the heat and sharpness of play in the second half, putting away 6 more goals on the Trojans, including a penalty kick by sophomore midfielder Ashley Overberg and two by Laura Chavez in the last 8 minutes of the game. The Reivers got the result they were wanting with a 10-0 win against NIACC, improving their conference record to 3-0-0 and their overall record to 5-2-0.

NOTES & NUMBERS: Sophomore forward Laura Chavez earned a hat trick and two assists on the game. Sophomore Charlotte Heithoff and Abby Hall each got their first goals of the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Whitney Dockweiler earned her fourth shutout of the season.
