Reivers open Conference play with dominating performance

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Reivers' came out strong as they dominated Southeastern Community College in their first conference matchup of the season. Freshman #14, Kauany Sousa, put the ball away in the back of the Blackhawk's goal just 4 minutes into game. The Reivers' offense continued to control the game, putting 6 more goals away before half time, making it 7-0.

Coming out after half, the Reiver's sharpened up their passes through the backline and created more movement throughout the middle of the field during the second half. They duplicated their scoring opportunities and put another 7 goals in the back of the Blackhawk's net. Final score of the match: 14-0 Reivers.

NOTES & NUMBERS: Sophomore goalkeeper Whitney Dockweiler notched another clean sheet under her belt, making it her second of the season. Sophomore midfielder Ashley Overberg, sophomore forward Laura Chavez, and freshman forward Kauany Sousa each came away with a hat trick. Freshman defender Estefania Cardona picked up her first goal of the season off her own corner kick, as well as sophomore Alex Boss, sophomore Anyeli Solarte, and freshman Paola Ochoa each putting a goal away.

"We came out stronger and sharper in the second half of the match (compared to the first), having cleaner passes within our defense, moving the ball quicker in the midfield, increasing our scoring opportunities off of set-pieces. It was a good opportunity to allow a various amount of players to get looks on the field and put in some solid work."
