Reivers finish 5 to defeat Otero

Council Bluffs, IA –Iowa Western played Otero Sunday morning, coming out on top with a 5-0 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Reivers started the game against Otero more powerful than they have played so far. Immediately, Iowa Western dictated the game, controlling the ball in the attacking half. The Reivers continuously created chances, building up the tension in the game. Finally, in the 34th minute, midfielder Laura Chavez lofted in a corner kick, finished in the back post with a contested header by defender Veronica Herrera. Minutes later, Chavez came up with another assist, sending the ball through to Dani Robb, who finished near post. The Reivers exited the half electrified by their play as a team.

Wore down from the first half, the Rattlers found themselves quickly passed and played around by Iowa Western. Two minutes in, Chavez comes up with yet another assist, laying off a ball for Ashley Overberg to finish bounding off the near post and into the goal. Ten minutes later, Anyeli Solarte capitalized on a deflected pass, curling the ball cleanly into the far post. While Otero seemed to lose energy, Iowa Western did not let up.
