The Streak had ended for the Women's Golf Team!

The Women Reiver had their 12-year run as the District Champions come to an end this last week in Ankeny, IA. The Plains District was hosted this year at Otter Creek Golf Course that saw 12 teams compete for the championship and the 2 automatic bids for the National Championships.

The Reivers got off to a hot start on Day 1 and led Barton Community College by 4 strokes. The team was led by Sophomore Madi Schlaepfer with a 72 followed by Freshman Baylie Pyke with a 73 and Marley Richter with a 77.

"With such a young team this year, I wasn't sure how we would compete," said Head Coach Matt Robinson. "I was happy with their performance on Day 1, it helped apply a little pressure to Barton, who came in as the favorite to win."

Day 2 saw the play a little inconsistent and the lead was lost to Barton. But not until the last few holes was anything decided. "It was a little nerve racking watching the live score and updating it every few minutes those last holes," said Robinson.

Pyke shot the best round of any players on Day 2 and took the individual victory with Schlaepfer and Richter following up in 3rd and 8th place.

The women will move on and compete May 9th thru 12th at the National Championships hosted by Garden City and played at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course.
