Reiver Women Golf Team Gets Another Victory

The Reiver women's golf team battled windy conditions in their second tournament of the year. Being played in Sioux City, IA hosted by Briar Cliff University Day 1 brought 25 mph wind with gusts even higher. "A day just to survive", was  led by Sophomores Madilyne Schlaepfer and Katie Graham with 77 and ended with Iowa Western sitting in first place by 10 strokes.

Day 2 brought better conditions and the Reivers took advantage of it. The team extended the lead by 33 strokes to take the victory over host team Briar Cliff. All 5 women were able to shoot in the 70's led by Freshman Baylie Pyke 72.  Graham finished in 3rd place, Pyke in 4th, Schlaepfer in 5th while Freshman Wen-Yi Hung and Brook Diekemper finished in 7th and 14th place. Marley Richter, playing as an individual, finished in 19th place.

"This might have been the best over-all team performance I've been associated with in my 8 years at Iowa Western" said Head Coach Matt Robinson. "To have 5 players in the 70's and your individual golfer in at 85, is something special".

The Reivers are back in action Sept. 24th & 25th when they travel to Lincoln, Ne to take part in the Nebraska Wesleyan Invite.
