Reiver Women's Golf Team Picks Up First Victory of the Year.

The Reiver Women kicked off thier 2021 Spring  season with a victory at the Ottawa University invite played at Eagle Bend in Lawrence, KS. Dealing with brutal wind conditions both days the women showed thier mental toughness in winning by 31 stokes over fellow Junior College competitor, Barton Community College.

Playing the first day in sustain winds of 20 mph and gust higher, the Women were led by impressive scores from Luisa Gibson (75) and Seira Kubo (76) to sit in 1st and 2nd place respectfully. Along with Holly Elliott (85) sitting in the top 15 the Reivers found themselves in first place by 1 stroke.

Day 2 brought even higher sustain winds of 25 mph with gust higher. "When we arrived at the golf course on day 2, I didn't think there was anyway we would play the round," said Assistant Coach Matt Robinson. "For us to improve our team score from the first day by 14 strokes just shows the mental toughness of this team."

The top 4 golfers all were able to improve from thier first day totals. This time led by Kubo (72) which took home 1st place honors and Gibson's (75), good for a second place finish, the team increased the  lead by 31 strokes.  Elliott's (81) was good enough to get her a 7th place finish over-all. Maya Northcutt improved by 6 strokes on day 2 and finished in 26th spot and Katie Schweers was steady both days (95-96) and finished in 31st place.

The Women will take 2 weeks off before playing thier next event.
