Reivers Start Season 2-0

The Reivers have had an exciting start to their 2022-2023 season. Iowa Western Women's Basketball has recently moved up four spots to #7 in the NJCAA DII Week 1 Rankings. This comes in response to two statement road victories at NJCAA DI McCook and at NJCAA DII preseason ranked #6 North Central Missouri.

On November 1st, Iowa Western opened their season with a 99-69 win over McCook with 6 Reivers scoring in double digits. Reivers went 43-53 at the free throw stripe for 81.1% and outrebounded the Indians 56 to 30.

On November 5th, the Reivers followed up with a declarative 101-72 win over North Central Missouri. Iowa Western once again dominated the boards with a 42 to 25 margin and forced 19 turnovers from the Pirates.

Caela Tighe was named an ICCAC Player of the Week for her performances averaging 19.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals per game. She shot 5-7 (71.4%) from 3-point range and a perfect 12-12 free throw tally.

Three other Reivers are averaging double-figures in scoring: Seton Hall transfer McKenna Minter (16.5 ppg), Courtney Fields (16.0 ppg), and Aleshia Jones (15.0 ppg). Iowa Western also received major contributions from their forwards. E'laiyah Heard is averaging 7.5 points and 9 rebounds a game followed closely by Caleigh-Rose West who is averaging 7.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Iowa Western Women's Basketball is back in action on Saturday, November 12th against NJCAA DI Western Wyoming in a neutral site game hosted by Western Nebraska Community College at 12 pm. The Reivers home opener is on Tuesday, November 15th as they host Concordia University-Nebraska JV at 6 pm.
