Fort Hays State Freshman Shoot

This Saturday the Reivers' started the 2019-2020 season in Hays, Kansas with a Freshman only competition. The Reivers' started off the season with a great showing of multiple athletes bringing home awards. Both Gage O'Connor and Jacob Slieter tied for 3rd place in high over all score for the men's division. Athletes who also scored in the men's division include:

Jordyn Smedra: 1st in Wobble Trap, score 50/50,; 2nd in Double Trap, score 47/50

Garett Tierney: 1st in American Trap, score 50/50

Jacob Slieter: 2nd in American Skeet, score 47/50

Gage O'Connor: 2nd in Double Skeet, score 46/50

In the women's division, Chloee Verplank led the Reiver's with multiple awards. She placed 1st in Double Skeet with a 39/50 score. Verplank also placed 2nd in the following events: Double trap with a 37/50, American Trap with a 47/50, and American Skeet with a 40/50. Reegan Filip placed 2nd in Wobble Trap with a 42/50 score.

Coach Derek Pollock commented on the tournament, "I am very proud of how these freshman performed in their first competition. The meet served as a good exposure to college shooting sports and hopefully helped to break the anticipation of starting their collegiate careers. I am excited to watch these athletes grow throughout the season."

The Reivers compete next weekend in Harlan, IA with a head-to-head competition against Southeast Community College.
