Zoe Hicks Added to Team Canada Roster

Ottawa, Ont. - Softball Canada and the Women's National Team Coaching Staff announced their roster for the 2023 WBSC Women's Softball World Cup Group Stage that will be held from July 22-26, 2023, in Castions di Strada and Buttrio, Italy.

Former Iowa Western Softball Utility Zoe Hicks was a part of this roster announcement after three regional identification camps and one final selection camp.  Hicks was a member of the 2016-17 and 2017-18 Reiver Softball teams that posted a record of 80-24 over the two seasons, appearing in the ICCAC Region XI Championship game both years as well.

Hicks dominated the conference during her sophomore year, slashing .488/.499/.670 with 24 2B, 7 HR, and 71 RBI, en route to being named the ICCAC Offensive Player of the Year.  She also garnered NJCAA 1st Team All-American, FPN 2nd Team All-American, and 3rd Team NFCA All-American honors and was a part of the 2nd Team NFCA All-Midwest Team.

Following Iowa Western, Hicks spent three seasons at Louisiana Tech, helping the Techsters to the program's first Conference USA Regular Season Title as well as the C-USA Tournament Championship in 2019.

After her time in Ruston, Hicks made history, becoming the first woman to play for the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks in the Expedition League, a wood-bat baseball summer league. On May 29, 2021, Hicks became the first female to reach base and score a run during the fourth inning, then became the first to get a hit and drive in a run in the seventh as she helped the Whiskey Jacks rout the Sioux Falls Sunfish 13-4. She then went on to play professional softball for Sparks Haarlem in the Netherlands.

Currently, Hicks is the Baseball Technology Associate for the Los Angeles Dodgers and is the Co-Host of the podcast More Than 5% which is dedicated to the stories of women in sports.
