Reivers Notch First Conference Wins of the Season

CRESTON, Iowa - Iowa Western Softball picked up their first ICCAC Conference victories of the season after a doubleheader sweep of Southwestern on Saturday afternoon.  The Reivers (16-9, 2-4) and Spartans would take game one of the day to extra innings with both teams knotted up at 3 runs each.

Mattea Martin would lead off the ninth inning with a double and then promptly stole third after a missed bunt attempt couldn't be handled by the SWCC catcher.  Jessica Meisinger would score her on a sac fly to center field.  Moira Baxter and Olivia Kyes would follow with back-to-back singles and Cydnee Schneider would load the bases after being hit by a pitch.  That brought up Alex Stoner who then singled to plate two more.

Jacee Carlow pitched five solid innings in relief, giving up just twohits and striking out nine Spartans to earn the win.

Stoner finished 1-4 with a double and three RBI.  Kyes ended her day 3-5 on three singles.

Game two of the day saw the Reivers jump out to a 10-0 lead after just the first inning.  The team would go on to take the game 15-1 in just five innings.

Iowa Western will be back in action tomorrow for another doubleheader with Southwestern CC, first pitch at 12 pm CT.
