Council Bluffs, IA -- After 22 games Iowa Western finally took their home field against Northeast Community Tuesday afternoon.

The first inning Sophomore Michaela Epp took the mound and threw three straight strikeouts. The momentum continued as Iowa Western took a quick lead and scored one run in the first inning. As the game went on the Reivers continued their offensive production. Iowa Western recorded 14 hits and 8 runs in game one, winning 8-0.

Epp and the Reiver defense shut out the Hawks offense and allowed only two hits. When asked about the game Epp replied, "I felt like the team had my back defensively and offensively. When someone got a hit off of me I was unconcerned because I knew my defense would sacrifice themselves to make sure they would not score. Offensively our batters did a good job being aggressive and hitting balls hard."  

Freshman Madysen Kim was the starting pitcher in game two. Kim struggled to find the zone early and walked five batters which allowed three runs to score. The Reivers responded offensively with a triple by Lily Gregory. Gregory was hit in with a double by Tyla Lee who was later batted in by a single from Sydney Reamer. Northeast held Iowa Western stagnant until the 5th inning. To lead off the inning Lee beat out a hard hit ball to the six-hole. Next Reamer blasted a triple off the top of the fence scoring Lee. Iowa Western batted through the lineup and brought up Lee with bases loaded and two outs. She hit a walk off double into the left center gap leaving the final score 13-5.
