A week long test in the Sunshine State started off on the wrong foot for Reiver Softball as #1 Florida Southwestern wasted no time showing off why they're the top ranked squad in the NJCAA.

The Buccaneers Kelsi Collins (16-0), dropped IW in order in the Top of the 1st and sat back to watch her team post 11 runs in the bottom half as the shell shocked Reivers couldn't slow the attack.

2 errors for IW led to 8 unearned runs in a 16-0, 5-inning defeat.  Sophomore Sydney Reamer was the only Reiver pitcher who left unscathed, while she and Freshman Emily Jacobs were the only Reivers to earn a hit against the Bucs stellar pitching.

Game 2 was a completely different story for the Reivers.  Reigning ICCAC Pitcher of the Week, Julie Katz, fared well early against FSWC.  The Louisville, Nebraska product threw 4 innings before the Buccaneers broke through in the 5th.  IW led 1-0 and retook the lead in the 2nd on a solo homerun by Freshman Madysen Kim.  Sophomore Centerfielder Lily Gregory was 2-3 with a double in the 7-2 loss.

The games were the first ever meeting between the teams.  2019 marks just the 4th season that the college has fielded a team.

The games were played at City of Palms Park, the Spring Training home of the Boston Red Sox until 2011.
