Softball splits with Crowder College

Blue Springs, MO – Reiver softball split with defending Region 16 champion Crowder College on Sunday.  Crowder took game on 11-7 but Iowa Western grabbed game to 16-5 in six innings to salvage the split.  IWCC saw its seven game win streak end but improved to 17-5 on the season.

 

Naomi Terrazas, Allison O'Driscoll and Zoe Hicks all had multi-hit games in game one, including a solo shot from Hicks, but it wasn't enough as Crowder outslugged the Reivers, 11-7.  Brock took the loss in the circle in four innings of work.

 

In the nightcap, the Reivers struggled early against before pouring it on in the fourth, fifth, and sixth.  Iowa Western had 19 hits in the game, including homeruns from Naomi Terrazas, Allison O'Driscoll, and Michal BilgerZoe Hicks got the win in the circle, going the distance and striking out seven along the way.  Hicks also had four hits in the game, as did Lily Gregory.

 

Zoe Hicks was excited about the game two performance, "I think that we started off slow but once we found our energy it took off.  We had to work for every out that we got but once we started feeding off each other's energy we played really well."

 

Iowa Western heads to North Platte, NE for double headers against North Platte CC and Western Nebraska CC on Wednesday and Thurday.
