Reivers softball sweeps home weekend

Reivers softball sweeps home weekend

Council Bluffs, IA – After going 3-3 on a weather shortened trip to Oklahoma and Texas, the Iowa Western softball team got back in action at home over the weekend.  The Reivers took two from Northeast Community College, 9-1 and 8-0 on Friday, then swept Marshalltown Community College in a non-conference double header on Saturday, 6-2 and 10-2.  With the four game sweep, the Reivers improved to 9-3 on the season.

Iowa Western was firing on all cylinders over the weekend, getting quality outings in the circle, averaging over eight runs a game, and only committing two errors defensively over the four games.  "I was fairly pleased with the weekend," said Head Coach Ben Greer.  "We played very well defensively with only a couple miscues.  Our pitchers did a great job of getting out of jams even if self-inflicted, and offensively we scored enough to win but definitely some approach things we still need to clean up.  It's good to get wins but know you're far from playing your best softball."

The Reivers hope to continue their winning ways against #16 Highland Community College in Highland, KS on Friday, March 9th.  First pitch set for 1pm.
