Gans Creek Classic

High temperatures were the story at Gans Creek this year.  Registered real feel temperatures ranged from 86-90 for the Non D1 races this past weekend in Columbia Missouri.

"It was unusually warm for the end of September," said Coach Bierbaum.  "We were looking forward to some fast times today, but unfortunately the heat made that difficult."  "The team took the last-minute change in game plan well and started very conservatively and competed well all the way to the line." Said Coach Bierbaum.  "When a lot of runners were going down, we kept moving through," said Bierbaum.

Freshman newcomer Silvia Gradizzi from Italy led the way for the women flying through the last 2k faster than any other woman in the field to finish 12th overall in the 6k race.  "The heat limited me from letting Silvia just go from the gun," Said coach Bierbaum.

On the men's side the reivers were led by the 1-2 punch of freshman Mohamed Kowa 5th and Sophomore Jacinto Gaspar 7th overall.  I was excited to see these two works together, said coach Bierbaum.  "I love training and competing with Mohamed for sure," said Jacinto.

Next up is Platte River Rumble in Ashland, NE.
