Scott Strohmeier

Scott Strohmeier

HEAD COACH:

Scott Strohmeier enters the 2024 season as the only Head Coach in the Reivers' 15 seasons.  'Coach Stroh' has guided Iowa Western from fledgling football status to national power in his time in Council Bluffs.  The Minnesota native, who is entering his 24th season in college football, hit the century mark for career wins with a 36-19 victory over Northwest Mississippi in the 2017 Graphic Edge Bowl and won his 100th game with the Reivers in a 31-10 victory at Ft. Scott Community College in October of 2019. Last season the Reivers defended their national championship, defeating East Mississippi 61-14, the most points in a national championship game versus a full scholarship opponent in NJCAA history.  The team finished the year ranked #1 in the NJCAA Top 20, the 11th time in 15 seasons that the team finished inside the Top 5 of the rankings, and the 12th time in 15 seasons that the squad was ranked in the Top 10 of the final poll. In 2022 The Reivers capped off the program’s 14th season with the program's 2nd NJCAA national championship, defeating #1 Hutchinson 31-0.

Since the beginning of the football program in 2009, the Reivers have appeared in five NJCAA National Championship games. The Reivers have accounted for the most wins by any NJCAA football program since 2010, winning the NJCAA National Championship in 2012, 2022, and 2023.  Five players under Coach Strohmeier have earned NJCAA Player of the Year honors, QB Jake Waters in 2012, QB Kai Locksley in 2017, QB Nate Glantz in the 2020-21 Spring season, LB Jacob Ellis in 2021, and DE Jackson Filer in 2022.  Even more impressive, Coach Strohmeier’s Reivers' squads have sent 397 players on to the next level of collegiate football, 30 to the National Football League, and have never suffered a losing season as a team.

Before Iowa Western, Strohmeier coached at North Iowa Area Community College for three seasons, helping the Trojans to the postseason in his final two years in Mason City.
