Reivers Sweep Indian Hills; Finish atop the ICCAC Standings

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - 5th-ranked Iowa Western Baseball swept ICCAC Conference rival Indian Hills in a doubleheader originally scheduled to be in Ottumwa but was moved to Doc Ross Field earlier in the week due to field conditions at Indian Hills.

The Reivers took game one 11-5 with starting pitcher Noah Scott (9-1) throwing six innings of shutout baseball giving up just three hits while striking out a trio of Warriors.

Indian Hills plated all five of their runs in the bottom of the 7th inning after a walk, and RBI single from Dylan Sayles followed by a grand slam from Miguel Salazar off of IWCC's Sam MarekAlex Willey came into relief and proceeded to get two ground ball outs and a line out on just six pitches to shut the door.

Game two saw the Warriors take an early 1-0 lead but the Reivers responded with three runs in the top of the 3rd inning on a 2-run single from Singer and a sacrifice fly from Saunders. The freshman from Saint Michael, MN would go 4-4 on the day with a double and a 3-run jack to leftfield for his 9th of the year.

Freshman pitcher Buddy Brands (5-0) threw six innings, giving up just one run in the 2nd inning, allowing three hits while striking out three Warrior batters to earn the win in a 9-3 victory.

IWCC would turn around to win game three of the series on the following Monday, 10-3, clinched the top spot in the ICCAC standings, and will host Indian Hills again in the Region 11 final starting on May 9th from Doc Ross Field.
