Council Bluffs, IA -- The Iowa Western Reivers opened up the 2019 Iowa Western Classic with a solid performance en rout to a victory over Minnesota Prep Friday (12/6) evening.

The Reivers controlled most of the first half and went into intermission with a 35-27 lead. In the game's second frame the Reivers continued to keep the Diplomat Lions at arms length; leading by no less then 8 points the second 20 minutes and seeing the lead ballooned out to as many as 22 points late into the contest.

To reflect the unselfish play by Iowa Western on this evening; 5 different Reivers ended the night in double figures. Jalen Dalcourt led the Reivers with a 22 point effort, while Kaleb Thornton and Damontrez Ruffin (14 pts each) , Caleb Huffman (12pts), and Seneca Louis (10pts) rounded out the double figure scorers. Seneca Louis added another "double-double" night to his sophomore season with a 10 point - 10 rebound effort.

With the win, and a Johnson County (KS) overtime win over Sunrise Christian (KS) in the 3:00pm game earlier in the day; the Iowa Western - Johnson County game tomorrow (12/7) night becomes the "defacto championship game" of the 2019 Iowa Western Classic.  Tip time between the Reivers and Cavaliers is slated for 7:00pm.
