Top 10 Match-Up Ends in Split, Reivers and Roughriders Finale Cancelled

Neosho, Missouri

Tanner Kohlhepp ground out his second win of the season and the Reivers collected 12 hits to outlast Crowder in game one of Saturday's doubleheader in Neosho.  Derek Shoen went 3-3 with two RBI and a walk, while Cooper Bowman and Sam Riola combined for a pair of walks in a 5-9 day at the top of the order.  Rightfielder Jevon Mason scored three runs.  A day after hitting a pair of home runs in a doubleheader sweep of NEO, the Reivers were held without an extra-base hit in the day's first game but were able to withstand a late home rally to hang on for a 9-7 victory.  Will Stevens picked up the save in 1.1 innings of work for the Reivers eighth victory of the season.

It looked like more of the same in game two as the Reivers scratched out four first-inning runs.  but were held scoreless by Roughriders pitching the remainder of the game.  Zach Miller (0-2), met more tough luck as he left the game trailing 5-4 after just three innings.  Braedyn McLaughlin wouldn't fair much better as the Reiver sophomore gave up just one hit, but issued four walks as Crowder tacked on four more runs in a 9-4 defeat.  Bowman and Riola contributed five more hits from the 1-2 spots in the order, while Brady Prewitt drove in a pair in a 2-4 performance, including the Reivers only extra-base hit of the day.

Day two of the series with Crowder was called off before day one was done due to forecasted inclement weather.

Despite the split, the Reivers moved up two spots in the latest NJCAA rankings and are now 2nd in the country behind fellow Northern District member Wabash Valley.  The Warriors sit at number one with an identical 8-2 record.
